Client - Human Rights First
Human Rights First is a non-profit, nonpartisan international human rights organization based in New York, Washington D.C. and Los Angeles. On human rights, the United States must be a beacon. Activists fighting for freedom around the globe continue to look to our country for inspiration and count on us for support. Upholding human rights is not only a moral obligation; it’s a vital national interest: America is strongest when our policies and actions match our values.
Objective
Human Rights First has a database of court documents from closed US asylum-seeking applicants. They wanted to discern any relevant data from a case decision in order to best plan their legal strategy per judge.
Role
I was Technical Project Manager for our team responsible for supporting teammate task completion, web developer communication, pair-programming with each team member, pruning the GitHub repo, clarifying objectives with organization stakeholders, and refactoring current code drawing from the appeals court level to the regional court.
Result
A web application including per judge case decision visualizations. The next steps for this project with Human Rights First are to onboard additional law firms to the application for continued data analysis.
